Novak GTB = Up in smoke.
My GTB went up in smoke at the weekend mid race.
If the solder tabs to the ESC were sitting on the Carbon Fibre (Its a tub) chassis and the day/ ESC was hot enough, could it have shorted through the CF chassis. My theory is that the heat and it was very very hot on Sunday and so was my ESC, melted the bonding agent of the CF chassis exposing the CF strands, this sat across the terminals of the underside of the Solder tabs causing the short and smoke (along with my chassis cooking) On the underside its pretty black from the Orange "C" Cable through to the Negative. The internals of the ESC look ok. Any thoughts? |
You should never never ever have the tabs touching carbon, your asking for trouble. At the very least you need to cover that part with tape.

carbon is extremly conductive, a massive no no.

spice girl......
southall...since when did you write in tune with the spice-girls..
you should never never eva!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D any-1 know what causes a sensored speedo to make a brushless glitch as if your feathering the power on and off it's high point then cuts out completely? |
if it is in a tub, I would be more inclined on gluing some lexan to the carbon first, this would give a very good barrier.
As for the resin re-melting, I would not think so, need some serious heat for that, as it is thermal setting, so it already been through a heat cycle, and is now a solid. |

I thought it best to get my point accross. |
Ooops.
Lexan! I'll give that a go on the rebuild. Thanks for the tip. |
