new cat sx layshaft update kit U3795
Hi has anyone run the new layshaft upate kit yet?
Mine has turned up includes new layshaft an slipper shaft an normal 48dp pinions to replace the previous steel an plastic gears. Looks good quality with new shafts brown anodised ala hudy/xray spud |
Let us know what you think, because it seems to be a very good update.:)

Yeah i ran a prototype at the Euros. No issues at all and a good move forward for the car.

Wish I'd bought one from Robin today

what's the change on the cat layshaft?
|
i ran the mod at the F3's this weekend and it was really good. No gear trouble at all and the car is still nice and quiet.
This mod won't fit on the cougar. Simon may be able to comment if there is one in the pipeline for the cougar or not. layshaft change is due to the slipper spring moving over to the spur gear side. |

it's well worth it Mikey, as it should make things bullet proof. It's also pretty easy to change the internal ratio as you only need standard 48dp pinions.

I get it now. a trip to Redrc sorted my mind out. well as much as can be sorted lol |
Fitted it agree much better, an means gears are cheap to change when worn.

got some pics Spud?
which part number gives everything to convert as I see there are 2 or 3 listed |
You will want the complete kit £15 - u3794. not the layshaft only kit which is about £8.

U3794 Layshafts & Steel Pinions 23-33t - CAT SX In Stock £12.76 (£14.99)
U3795 Layshafts Set for Steel Pinions - CAT SX In Stock I think |
and that's the bits to put the spring adjustment on the spur end also?
I guess that re-uses the original parts. |
The complete kit has the layshafts, pinions and a couple of spacers. It reuses the spring and nuts and a couple of other spacers.

awesome cheers

just a quick heads up lads. have been testing this for a few weeks now and my advise is to either check the grub screws everycouple of runs or do like i have and add some LIGHT and i mean LIGHT thread lock to the grubscrew. to give it an iterferance fit style. this eliminates any potential problems that can arrise if the grubscrew was to come loose
