At Faversham off road club in Kent, see link in my sig we race on a polished wooden floor, the floor seems fine, we cover the down ramps with carpet/matts to stop the cars taking chunks out the floor but overall they seem to run well on it with out damage.
Our hall we use is fairly old and the floor is fairly well used so maybe doesnt show up the marks, but on a new basket ball court style floor I would be a bit carefull.
We use Schumacher full spikes and they seem to work well and last ages (6 months + ) a set.
