You'd get a good associated b44 and brushless combo for pretty cheap (sub £200) you really cant go wrong with 1 of them. You could also be competitive if you chose to race down the line.
I also wanted a basher but very quickly got bored and wanted to race. If you can push the boat out, get something good in my opinion. Otherwise you'll likely be buying another pretty quickly
This is prob worth £150 and looks to be ready to run. I have the pro version and it handles really nice
