So I have a guess how the gold HL damper bodies could be an improvement. I do not think that they are a performance upgrade, but they may make your pistons last longer. I measured the pistons in my grey dampers and they were out-of-round by about .08mm after a year of racing, which was putting some play into the shocks. I am now wondering if this piston wear will be less with the new gold damper bodies. I'll check again in a year and let you know
