If you get a early cobra, the gearbox is much stronger than the later ones and would probably be ok if the motor wasn't too hot and the gearbox was built properly. Madrat gearboxes are ok but will benefit from upgraded diff parts and idler gear if you intend to race it. I fitted the b4 diff because it was easy to do and can handle the power without issue. I currently use other cars but my cobra was completely reliable with a b4 diff. I also use tamiya driveshafts that are cheap and again totally reliable. Mine has just had some losi shocks fitted and will be used again soon.
