Torque-effect
With universal-shaft driven cars like the BJ4, S4 and Aero - how big is this problem? Does it bother you while driving? Will it pull to one side when accelerating? Twist when jumping etc? (motor will act as a gyroscope)

this was my biggest fear when switching to a shaft car.
but its not noticeable, I think the 4 off-road wheel we have spinning far out-weigh the motor/shaft gyro/torque effect. I think a lot of the TC boys are feeling it, thats why shaft is being phased out in 10th TC, but they only have tiny light wheels. |

It can make the car roll very slightly in the air as you get on and off the throttle, but with a bit of practice this can be countered with steering although usually you don't have to bother (at least with the BJ4WE)
On the track I don't notice any torque effect with my BJ4, I imagine the Aero wil be no different |

Yep. Those 4 wheels are bigger, heavier gyros than the motor. besides, the motor has got a nice counter-balance axle. (spur, shaft)

Just to agree with whats already been said, the only time I did notice it with my S4 was being over ambitous with the throttle in the air, and even then it wasn't as bad as when I did a winter of racing a TC3 on carpet!!

We run shaft drive buggies and TC's, 6.5 BL in the buggies and down to a 12 turn so far in the TC's. Never noticed it at all in the buggies and it only occurs in the TC's on initial acceleration which we've learnt to adjust to.
Used to run rubber bands in TC's but had one snap adn it is was a pig to replace in time, never had a shaft break yet! |
