It was a great track!
Strange how all this has come about to be honest Steve, chatting with my Dad (being fathers day) about old times and how we used to love the racing. Stumbled across this forum and found that somebody was asking if anyone had Donisthorpe photos.... and the rest is history! I'll take you up on coming over to the Cov track. Think I may have found you on Facebook (Not that I'm a stalker!!) but I thought I could send you the photos so you can see them full size. |

I remember a RRC round on the original banked field where it was so muddy you could see the colours of the cars, let alone the numbers! No AMB in those days either...

I think the tarmac track was pre 1990, I started with a Mardave Meteor in 1990 and in pretty sure it was astro by that point. I'm still going without a break 22 years later Anyone got any photos of the annual 24hr race at Donisthorpe??? Pretty sure me and the old man would be in them somewhere
ps heres some from Facebook |

WOW blast from the past
That place brings back memories,go to the shop in tamworth,go out and get a few pints in me then race on sunday morning on the b5000 at tamworth.Helped build and support the club on tarmac and clay tracks.Started offroad racing there at 18years old(now a veteran). My tamiya astute was set up by brett and got to know all the davis clan.Good memories will last forever.
