I found the answer to my question.
Here it is for info for those who dont know. Losi pistons are in 'numbers' as well as colours they are as follows #60 (Natural) #57 (Black) #56 (Red) #55 (Orange) #54 (Blue) This number also relates to a drill size. Whever people talk about a standard piston in number they would just use the 2 digits or the colour. If they talk about a drilled piston they will use a 3 digit number, something like 556 or 566. What it is the last number of the 'standard' piston numbers, notice they are all 5something so that does not matter so a 556 piston would have 2 holes in #55 and one hole in #56 a 566 piston would have 1 hole in #55 and 2 holes in #56 **Tip From Richard Cree** The number as Chris says relates to an imperial drill size, bear in mind the bigger the drill number, the smaller the hole. Another thing to consider is a drilled 555 piston will have a slightly different size to a moulded 555 piston, for this reason I always used drilled pistons, even if they are standard versions available. This really is very fine tuning, but once you get the hang of it you will find the jump between std pistons to be immense. Measurements #60 - 1.02mm #59 - 1.05 #58 - 1.07 #57 - 1.10 #56 - 3/64" #55 - 1.30mm #54 - 1.40mm |

Small changes Lowered the front camber link ballstud a couple of washers. Been running a brass front pivot block since I first started using the setup, which is the same as about 30g of weight. Also on extra change i've been trying which isn't on that setup is running the rear shock position on 3/Middle Probably worth saying that that set-up is for UK Grass / Astroturk high grip style tracks. Also worked very well at York at the Indoor Finals. For Tiverton's dirt track I'll be starting with the same set-up but with atleast 5wt lighter shock oil all round. |

Can somebody post pics of how to drill the pistons and what size drill I need. And do you use standard pistons any colour, thankyou very much from an ignorant Losi driver. Or a link to anywhere that has an idiots guide.

Spencer, my post above lists the pistons and then below the drill sizes, ie 57 = 1.10 mm.
you just drill out the holes to the size required, it makes sense to use a piston with small holes and enlarge them. |

Best piston to start with is a "Natural", then enlarge the required holes.

Does anyone have a link for the Bloomers kiddy setup or the setup that tricky and danny Mcgee ran at bury, the one with orange and silver springs?

So, I've driven a 2WD buggy once this year and next week I'll be racing a XXXCR for the first time since 2003 - does anyone know a good base setup that would work on the euros (dirt / carpet jumps) track for this car?
I'd rather not be getting into all that drilling pistons lark - it's a bit too hardcore for me is that. But an idea of the general setup and also what springs I might need to get hold of? Been a long time since I had a losi 2WD so I'm a bit lost with it. |

Start with blue pistons and 40wt oil red springs on the rear. Orange pistons, 40wt oil and blue/black springs. Set everything else up as kit to start with. Did you get my pm about vinal stickers??
