Oh sorry stedbedford i thought you were describing the crack width but now i understand it was the length....cheers

to be honest though i think this has just been a case of learning the hard way i am afraid stedbedford i dont think youve probably got any come back on this....forget about it and move on

i once bought a nearly new Calibra turbo (many many years ago) and the very first journey i drove it on (about 300 miles) the rear diff started singing louder than the radio , the head went and it started mixing oil and water (like an endless supply of choc milkshake) then it finaly stopped when the transfer box blew lots of oil out the bottom and it sounded like an industrial lathe
i wasnt happy but nothing i could do but fix it my self and flog it to a man that rolled it 3 times ( best place for it!)
see it could be worsecheer up

That will cost you even more bucks though
unfortunately in the time you probably take to sort it all out, you could have worked that time and earned double what it was worth!

Not being funny, but dont you think you where a bit dumb not making sure it worked before handing over your money? I think 99% percent of people would make sure the item actually worked before handed over there hard earned.

£120 is not too far out of town for the rolling chassis, if it's in good condition. Assume you also got servos, radio, starter box, blah, blah with it - as it was 'ready-to-run'.

Buying any used engine is always a gamble. You really need to expect the engine to be used & worn and factor this into your total budget. If it proves to have some life left in it then you need to think of it as a bonus.

The engine in an 8th is just the same as the motor in an 10th electric, it's a consumable item that has a limited life.

I'm not trying to suggest the thing was not misrepresented in the ad, but when something seems too good to be true, it often is.

Don't think of yourself as being badly ripped off, just unlucky that it turned out not be be the bargain that it first seemed.
