Ahhh so thats your loverly 501x bodyshell is it Mole2k ? I had a bigger version of that picture as one of my works PC's screen savers - have to say thats one of the nicest paint jobs ive seen in years You couldnt send me a higher res pic of the bottom picture could you by any chance ? Great shot that one on the rocks
And as we now know that the ' boring, same as all other sculptured shells ' 511 body fits the 501x chassis we could get back to talking about the best looking body for the 501x - the actual 501x bodyshell itself.... |

Ahhhh not trying to be offensive mate, your car looks awesome. Good photos too.
It just doesn't do it for me. It looks stepped on...or melted or something. I just like a buggy to look like a buggy, I'm a bit old school that way. I started mucking around with these things back in 1987. |

It was only a light hearted dig :P
I actually usually prefer the more 'buggy' looking bodyshells but i've always loved the 501x lines. The new Cougar SV shell is awesome. |

I am going to cut my 511 shell out soon (going on 501) and wondered do you cut the under tray out to the cut lines or do you need to leave any extra for the 501 chassis??

You should be fine with the standard cut out lines. Just check for the mounting hole positions.

How much difference is there between the mounting holes of 501 vs 511? Just wondering if I were to upgrade from 501 to 511, would the body fit without modifications to the mounting holes? Needing to cut something a bit more than for 501 is not that big of a problem, but if the mounting holes don't line up and they need to be enlarged to an extent that there is a visible hole on the body when fitted etc, the result is just plain ugly

Mounting holes are in exactly the same place, I use my 501 shell on the 511, without redrilling.

Having now tried both shells on both cars they are very close.
Front to rear there is a small difference which can be resolved by a small elongation of the holes. It is only 1 or 2 mm and depending on tolernace may not be an issue at all. James |
