Default Oven - safe lipo storage?

Random q, but one of my charger kind of exploded tonight whilst a 4s pack was discharging....although it seems like the battery survived am nervous about where would be safe to keep it while at work tomorrow just in case.

If I stick it in a lipo sack in the oven (oven off obviously!), would the oven cope if it went bang?

I'm in a flat, so don't hav an outside!

Was cycling them to check they were ok, as they hadn't been used in a while! Think the charger just couldn't cope with 4s!

Will an oven do it? It's that or take them to work with me

seen a 4s rip through a locked ammo box so i defo wouldnt do the oven - even if the explosion/flames didnt break the oven, the other danger from lipo is the fumes which are pretty nasty. your oven would be full of them when you got home.

I actually dont think there is much chance that your battery is damaged. It would display some outward signs of it. And if it is damaged, it would have done something by now.

If you want to be super safe, bung it in a charge pouch, and bring it with you to work.

P.S. has Cheshire got its own bonkers time zone or am I missing something?

Haha, I am not in Cheshire anymore

Cells stayed ok so fingers crossed.

I have noticed some slight swelling on one of my other cells (I hate Lipo's!), TP shorty pack has expanded out a bit at the sides rather than the top/bottom. Cells are in good balance and nearly new, well treated, as long as they don't get worse is a little swelling just par for the course these days, I seem to get it on most packs early on before they settle!?

If it did go up in the oven then it would make a mess of the oven and the smoke would still escape to the kitchen, an expensive place to keep it.
Put it in a plastic food bag then bury it in a bucket of sand. if you,ve got no sand put it under some bricks or rocks in the garden till you know its ok.
If you've any doubt about it charge it outside or in a mates house

I got this too on some 5400mAH Vampire cells.
Contacted the guys from Vampire about this and they said that its normal for new high capacity cells to swell a bit (so much charge material squeezed into the same size hardcase as the smaller capacity I guess)
They advised just to watch it incase it got worse, but it never did and that was quite a while ago now. Never had any problems with them.

What floor do you live on? Can you not hang it out of the window on a bit of rope four floors below?

Heres the slightly puffed lipo by the way...small enough to still be safe?
