Default Motor Voltage

Hi all,

Being a newbie (well since I last raced 10 years ago!!) I've bought my first brushless motor. I saw what i thought was a bargain and couldn't resistr!!

However, when i have delved deeper into the motor instructions (its a 6T) its nominal voltage at 6T is 6 volts not 7.4 . I planned on running it in my new buggy (yet to be bought) but prob a 4wd.

Is it going to be unsuitable?

Thanks

Si

it'll be fine, as long as its actually a car motor, as a matter of interest, what motor is it?

(and LiPo batteries generally start off at 8,4V, 7,4V is the nominal rated voltage, not the peak.

Have a dig round, there are a few guides (brushless, LiPo and so on) on various forums.

It'll be fine then, and FWIW i suspect the 6V thing is just so it can be compared with other motors, at 6V. As we have a variety of batteries that can be connected up to the ESC/Motor, all of which give different voltages. And all of which are over 6V.

Shows a more complete spec for a "similar" motor.

And also, it'll be perfectly suitable for a 4wd, you'll just get a bit, erm, surprised the first time you go to full throttle, and the car disappears into the distance in a cloud of shredded tyre.
