Default Futaba 3gr-fs reciever.

Does anybody know if there is an alternative receiver for the above radio other than the R603ff?. The price is a bit on the heavy side for me

R603FS (which is no cheaper) and I believe people use the FrSky FAAST copy receivers as well (stuck with Futaba myself, happily buying the receivers second hand).

As above, works like a dream and 1/3 of the size.

I use the FrSky TFR4 receivers, much smaller footprint than the R603's and only cost £25'ish

I've got 6 of them in my cars, great unit, never had an issue , only gripe is it had two Ariel's but these can be wound up easily with no interference problems.

+1 - exactly as Knighthawk describes, a faultless piece of kit in my experience. I have three, two of which were bought second-hand.

The two aerials should be set one vertical, and one horizontal to mimic the aerial system of the Futaba original. The horizontal aerial in the 603 is in the little hump on the top of the unit. It doesn't seem to matter which is which. For making the best of installation in different cars, I've interchanged them and noticed no difference at all. HTH
