Removing good tyres from rims
I've got quite a few set of new tyres (schumacher yellow & BB green) that I need to remove from rims to install on different hex rims. What is the best way? Acetone vapor or does this effect the tyres/inserts and make them unusable?

I have tried every way possible to get tyres off. The best, cleanest and quickest way is the oven.
Preheat oven at 200 degrees. Then put tyres on a tray for 5 mins turn tyres over for another 5 minutes then just take tyres off the rim. Be careful as they will be very hot. This way you can use the inserts again as well.

Do you keep the tyre above the acetone so it doesn't come into contact? How long it take, and it doesn't effect the tyre or insert?

put the acetone in a small pot and stand the tyres so the vapour can get all around. downside is some tyre compounds go hard (shumacher greens for example) and it also destroys some inserts. acetone also doesnt work with all glues. now using an old deep fat fryer that has an adjustable temperature as a boiler to remove things!

I have tried to boil off good tyres to reuse and some of them warp in the boiling water and are useless.
I use acetone for removing and reusing rims but don't usually use this method for reusing good tyres on different rims.

I've removed many tyres from rims with acetone, and it doesn't seem to affect the tyres at all. Only removed schumacher yellows so far.

Oven
Just done the oven method. 160 c for 15 mins then turn over for 5 mins.
Yes they fall off the rims easily. You can reuse the rims and tires/foams. But be warned it really stinks so make sure the Mrs is out!!!! |

Yellows are ok with acetone..
Greens go bad, so avoid acetone with those.. |

The only method to use Chris. It does smell but for the convenience of it its a small price to pay.
