Repro Parts
After either being unsuccesful in tracking down parts or them selling on ebay for a squillion pounds, I've decided to try and reproduce the square spotlights that fit on the roof of my holiday buggy.
But, I'm after advice on the best materials to use and other advice people can offer. (thinking about it, maybe I should have put this in the 'I made this' forum) Last edited by peetbee; 30-05-2008 at 02:42 PM. Reason: carp spelling |

I used to make this sorta stuff, and the clear lenses for the sand scorcher. I used RTV silicone stuff to make moulds and alumilite 2-part liquid plastic for the opaque stuff, not sure what I used for the clear stuff. The best way to use the alumilite I found was to microwave it - instead of 3minute curing time tho it fell to about 30 seconds but the microwave got all the bubbles out so I got better results as long as I worked extremely quickly.
I reproduced stuff like rear light pods and numberplates for the sand scorcher.. only fairly small stuff. |

Thanks Jimmy, I'll check it out. Fortunately there's no lens on these, Tamiya just supplied a sticker to go over the front with suitable sponsors logo.

no worries mate. Let me know how it goes. I made some stickers for the KC lights but I've not done any holiday square ones yet. I've got a nice holiday buggy at home somewhere I'll have to break out someday.
