oh yeah, forgot to say...
i prefer 2wd cos it's easier and cheaper to maintain (tight-ass), but i'm more consistent with 4wd, probably cos it's easier to drive when conditions worsen. However, last year, when i had a b4, i almost quit racing because of that car. Then i got a Losi.....all of a sudden, life got better. I started getting way more attention from women, work gave me a pay rise, and my penis grew an extra metre in length. |

I nearly quit life because of my B4, the humiliation of running it and the constant piss taking from other racers nearly tipped me over the edge.
Then i got a vision one night and i put the motor in front of the rear tower, did a little math and layed the cells out randomly and the x6 was born. I would like to thank X factory for saving my life |

Chris is right I was really looking forward to getting the B4 and I still think that the geometry should make a very responsive and agressive car, which is what I like.
It wasn't until I actualy started trying to work with it and finding I just couldn't get the weight distribution how I wanted it, I just can't deal with a random car (I admit I'm not good enough) and found the B4 to be unpredictable. Now I see that most people run a lot of extra weight in the B4 which would achieve most of what I was looking for but just wasn't the done thing back then, especially if you ran mainly stock or mild winds as I did. It's a personal preference thing but I still don't like that car at all, and yes I have tried several other peoples (mostly running the current "standard" setups) before and after my break running rallycross. It was responsible for me nearly giving up as I could not justify the expense of racing nationals for just one day so if I wasn't going to run 2wd I could not justify it and as I'd got to the point where nationals were making up 50% of my racing weekends a year it was the que to think about giving up. As for chopping cars I'm not sure where you get that from. Preds from late 94 till about 2002 and Losi XX until the original XXX (for about 3 months) then AE B3 from that point on. I have tried the both the Losi 4wd cars in the past when Pred support fell away and only changed to the Yokomo when it looked like no Pred spares would be available, I actually quite liked my XXX4 but as soon as Pred spares became available I went back to what I knew best. Before 94 I ran Kyosho 4wds and AE 2wd when racing properly and whatever I could afford in the couple of years after my father passed away. I don't think 4 brands of car in both 2wd and 4wd over a 20+ year period is crazy! Anyway that is totally off topic ....back to the guys poll. |

How can Roger actually have found the B4 to be THAT bad? The simple fact is "most" people still run one and from what i can tell have done so for a number of years, i can see how you might not like it as much as another car, or maybe find it has too much steering with the wrong set-up but the simple fact is it CANNOT in ANY circumstance be as bad as you're making out - and i don't honestly believe it's down to personal preference, the car may not have suited you perfect, but i'm sorry i just don't believe you could have possibly found it as bad as you make out. It's like all the people that don't like the Losi XXX - Any normal racer would still get it round and find it ok, some prefer it and some prefer their B4, X6 etc - However i don't believe they'd be more then 1 maybe 2 sec a lap slower if the car was set-up reasonably well...... It certainly isn't a car that's "sooo bad" you would need to think about giving up, there is only small differences between most of the cars at the end of the day so i have to agree with Millz here.....

I prefer 4wd as there seems so many different buggies winning different races these days...just makes it more interesting.
Ive tried 2wd with the b4 but didnt enjoy it as much.

I used to love 4wd, but since the B4, I have now loved 2wd, its easier to maintain, cheaper and nice and easy to drive at 90% and still get results. However, now I have tried a Cat 2000/98 that is one awesome car! However I still think the B4 is very competitive in higher grip situations. I had a XX, XXX and B4, and I think the B4 just pips the XX (which when I got setup correctly was pretty damn good). I found the XXX okay in the dry, but was a pig in the wet, just didn't seem to produce any grip or steering. I admit I didn't understand as much about changing things on the car then and I do change small things on the B4 just to dial it in and its great! Maybe with more time and understanding, the XXX would have been good (it was in Millzy's hands with Craig's help at Swansea in the rain! LOL)
B4 for me then! Mark

4wd for me, suits my style more, although after my first taste of the X-6 on Sunday, that might all be about to change
