Default Melton Model Show - 25/26 September

Hi guys,

We have been invited back to race at the Melton Model Show again this year, which takes place on the weekend of 25/26 September. Last year this was a great event, featuring model aeroplanes, helicopters, slot car racing and of course ourselves racing model cars for 2 days.

It all takes place on the field adjacent to Tesco in Melton Mowbray, so lunch is easy to find! The racing will be free and informal for all classes of off-road RC cars, all scales and either electric or IC powered. Last year we had 1/10 electric buggies, 1/10 electric trucks, 1/8 IC trucks and even a couple of 1/5 petrol buggies.

We have some varied events in mind for this year, ranging from the usual 5-minute racing format to some other more creative ideas prompted by some informal discussions in the pub last Friday, based on the theme of an "RC Olympics":
  • RC high-jump
  • RC long-jump
  • RC triple-jump
  • RC hurdles
  • RC team relay
  • RC team pursuit
  • RC bungee-running (OK, it's not an Olympic sport but it should be fun)
  • RC egg & spoon race (again, not an Olympic sport, but it jolly well should be!)
  • We decided that the RC javelin was probably too dangerous for a public event.
So, if you're free then put the date in your diary for the weekend of 25/26 September.
