Me just hypothesising reasons for the outdrive position and a shorter shaft...

...there is likely to be less strain on the slipper outdrive. A drive shaft when rotating wants to push out from the axle rather than stay linear to the axle, so a shorter shaft will have less force (laws of moments) trying to push the shaft outwards when in the outdrive.

...it could also be to do with the flex point of the chassis. The closer the entry of the outdrive is to the middle of the chassis the more movement potential and hence the shaft to pop out in extreme impact situations. Therefore moving it results in less chance of this occurring.

Oh man! At first I was pretty annoyed by captainlips posts but now I'm more annoyed with all you people arguing with him. Just let him be and start discussing the cars instead. The whole Durango thread really has been destroyed and it is not captainlips own fault. He actually does write some valid posts now and then.

Shame on you all !

^^^^^^i agree with that man
Leave lippy alone. It reads like your bullying him slightly. No ones right all the time but he does have some valid points of view !
I think the v3 is spot on
Upgrade if you want, or don't
Love it

Default 68mm rear centre shaft

I think the reason for the shorter rear centre shaft and longer slipper output is to stop the shaft from bottoming out on the slipper when the rear of the chassis flexes up/forward.

When this happens with the current design it can push the rear gearbox, making it rotate upwards, putting pressure on the hoop that holds the rear gearbox in place. These new parts should stop the hoop from breaking. The hoop on the new kit is also beefed up somewhat over the current one.

Of course the aluminium hoop is available for extra bling and more strength in this area.

Haha,, i actually broke my plastic hoop, so got the bling one instead, i was thinking that it broke due to too much torque on the backwheels landing on them after a triple jump, and going on full power at the impact point. but anyway, get the bling one, and never have that problem again.

The TD website now lists the spares for 410 V3 and 410R V3. This shows the rear centre shaft as 68mm long life shaft, so perhaps it's also case hardened? The new rear suspension hangers are also listed.

Any chance of you pasting a URL badger, I cannot find this info on the TD web site. Probably me being blind, but nevertheless I cannot see it.

Use this link, http://www.team-durango.com/parts.php?mcat=p12

Then use the drop down 'filter by kit'

Choose whichever you want to look at. The Rv3 and v3 are in the list.
