Shells looking great too, looks like you can get the back a bit lower than that though

i tried to put as low as possible, but the shell hits the thumbscrews at the batterystrap, i have to figure out a new way to strap the battery to get it lower, any suggestions?

Couple of suggestions...

1) Looks like you have straight wired corrally's, re-make them up as right angles.

2) Go back to the CSK screws on the outer battery strap fixings.

I understand the thumbscrews make removing the battery easier, but to be honest, unless you have a particular reason for it (like needing to charge in a pouch at your club), you could just leave the lipo in the car permanantly.

thanks

yea we do have to use a lipo bag when charging, but there arent really any good argument for me using thumbscrews, i use the same time using my hex driver and a regular CSK screw, so ill switch back, i didnt think of the hight of the shell before i got replies on this thread, but i tried it right now, and the car looks much more nice with the shell lower than i had on my pics, i`ll post some new pics when i have done this.

i have new deans in order, so i was planing to remake the corally plugs

thanks for the replies

I'd leave them on Corally's...better power handling than deans.

If you forced to use a pouch then the only thing I'd be careful of is how much you tighten/loosen the fixings into the chassis. IMO it's a bit of a weakness with the design that the battery fixings are running into plastic, since the thread will slowly wear out as you take the battery and screws in/out, though it's a good deep thread so hopefully that'll take a while!

What we could do with is a shell that allows for hieght in that area so that the thumbscrew option would work properly...without looking ugly!

Or maybe the X6^3 could move the fixing points inward a little...though I'm going to take an educated guess that the cubed is way off in the future yet!!!

As far as quick battery removal goes, then use the "Battery Quick Release" kit that we do.

The kit contains four threaded 4-40 rods to go permanantly into the chassis then secures in place with the supplied 4 low profile 4-40 alloy nuts, part number is XF1225 and is £4.79 - available from all good X-Factory UK stockists. No screwing in and out of the chassis and a good low profile secure solution to mounting your batteries too.

The posts are so far out so that you can fit a GTB/SLYDR to the left or right of the 2-cell area. That's the reason the 'rails' along the 2-cell area are lower too - the circuit board portion of the speedo just clears that. I knew this was going to be really close to the shell on the buggy, but when we were designing the X-6Sq/X-60 chassis last year there were plenty of places in the world (cough UK included cough) where most people were still running cells. They're still running cells in Japan, so while fitting the shell is a minor issue, 'fixing' that would have created a lot worse issue for many people.

Hopefully by the time we need a 'cubed' Novak will have a smaller speedo!

Well, not if your fix was to raise the sides of the shell a little at that point. Could even be done as a running change to your current mould.

I don't think people are asking you to redesign the chassis!

SNAP!!!!!!!!!

Got mine today and after one week building a new B4 and X6 Sq and hopping it up its ready to go!

I wouldnt worry about the sheel, put some strong tape underneath where it rubs and that will do it.
If you dont go for the DMS quick change kit, 4x 4-40 1.5inch screws will do, screw them in and dremel the excess off once you know whats not needed. A 4-40 nut on each front and a thumb screw on each rear. Like mine!

Carl-Thanks for the paint matey

Just waiting on the DDP Carbon transmission brace and ES Camber link then its finished!

Enjoy the pics !

Default New PIC`s

I have done some changes to get the shell lower, i removed the thumbscrews at the front of the brace, and i got the body way down, have a look at the pics

I have also added a RC10GT2 alloy front bulkhead, as i mean this is a worthy upgrade
