A 501 is more suited to racing.

Both are great. I ran the 501X and DB01 (not R) for a long time. I lost belts to stones on the 501X where the DB01 had no problems. The DB01 isn't as adjustable but I think it can be just as fast.

Yeah. Sell both your cars, and get a 511, but thats only if you can find one. New TRF511 kits are close to impossible to find now, so you'll probably have better luck looking for a used 511, but thats ok as long as nothing expensive is broken on the car. Make sure the chassis, towers, bulkheads, turnbuckles, and diffs are all ok, and then usually you'll get a bunch of spares with the chassis included as a bonus. Thats what I would do, otherwise, sell the 501x, and buy a DB02 when it comes out. Thats what I would do.

I have no a 511 and a 501x, but I have read their instructions, then I discover that there are so few differences between them, a 511 is very slightly better than a 501x, and the design of the upper deck of a 501x is much stronger than that of a 511, so a 501x may manage more rugged roads. Besides, it is nearly three years, that is a bit long before the next same driving system TRF car is released, since a 511 was released, so I think that the new TRF car is going to be released before long and now is the suitable time to look forward to it instead of upgrading a 501x into a 511. A 501x is designed for races, so of course is better than a DB01R. I should sell the DB01R keeping the 501x until the new TRF car is released. All of the above is my dull opinion.

They did! Its called a 502x.

If you're talking about the next belt TRF buggy to be produced by Tamiya, well, I dont see one coming anytime soon.

I think Tamiya is going to continue shaft drive development with its buggy designs from here on out; ie. DB02 and TRF512 etc...

Its a shame, if you ask me, because I like belt drive for good reason.
