got some nail varnish remover off my mum, do i just pour it into a container and put the wheels in it, how long do i leave the wheels in for

r
24hrs will do it, probably less but with this then it'll make sure nothing is left on the rim. If the acetone only covers on side of the wheel then 24hrs on one side and probably 12 on the other as the fumes will have softed it.

Bear in mind nail varnish remover is a lot weaker, i used to leave mine in that for about a week.

true some nail varnish remover is watered down with oil to make it kinder on your hands

I think that why the wheels we use dont melt is because there nylon or vice versa, all i know is there a different material and the ones Luke had are the ones that melt

Default Just finished testing steaming the tyres off

Just finished testing steaming the tyres off, worked a treat, tyres, inserts all came off intact, there is a little bit of glue left on the tyres but the rims are clean and the inserts and tyres are undamaged

I think i remember mike riley put some of his pred wheels in some raceside solution i think it was called and when he came to take the wheels out the wheels had melted and left the tyres. . Must of been something to do with the plastic they used

Your best off removing the tyre and insert first, will be quicker and stop damaging the foam too much, even if you just cut it off.

Agreed southwell

Also, it will only melt a certain type of plastic, i havent come across any of this type in off road, I had some in touring cars that just sent the acetone like porridge

But i suppose they deserved it.

The original pred wheels on the X10 melted This was sorted out pretty quickly though.

I left them in for 90 mins, Pred wheels, tyres and foam were all fine, I'm actually going to use the tyres and inserts on my B44 wheels

They will be fine but they will be getting damaged over a period of time, they don't like water.
