Diff screw - which side
Does it matter which side the diff screw is on the car? Looking at the exploded diagram the grub screw I think is on the left side

as long as you use the grub screw shouldn't matter

A few of us have had problems with diff bolts breaking at our club (only one for me -quite a few for another racer!) The best way around to have the screws seems to be to have the main bolt on the left and the locking grubscrew on the right. This way if they move the diff loosens off instead of going tight and snapping the main bolt.
I'm now using M3x16mm stainless cap head bolts as the main and a M3x 6 or 10m cap head as the grub screw as they're easier to get locked tight!

Mikey it cant come loose if the grub screw is tightened against the diff bolt, unless screw is to short IE grub screw isn't touching or thrust race a stuffed,

yeah, mine came loose loads when the locking grub screw was on the right hand side of the car (car facing forward), irrespective of whether the grub screw was tightened to holy hell or not.
Moving the locking grub screw to the left hand side, and I never ever had that problem again. Back of the net! Whether this is right or not, it worked for me, so it's worth a try. |

I'll double check the length, but it's a new one that I ordered recently.

Also, make sure the diff halves aren't warped. Causes many issues that one, caught me out a few times.

The grub screw can't ever be to short, all that there is to stop it screwing straight through the outdrive is the other bolt. You need to check that there's no old loctite in there though which could make the grubscrew tight before it touches the main bolt.
