Please get something more than 50cc's... My lawnmower has more power than that.
Take a looker at one of these: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...96/0/home.aspx Or these: http://powersports.honda.com/2009/crf230m.aspx Or these: http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Pro...scid=14&id=417 The Aprilia site is down, but they make dual sports/ crossovers as well. An aprilia would be much easier to get your hands on seeing as how they are Italian, not American or Japanese. |

50cc in general are dangerously slow and not a good intro into biking for anyone. You will be on the receiving end of shocking car driving at the time when you are a learner and not experienced enough to deal with it. Conversely when you have been riding a bit and get something quicker you will not have a problem. I'm not saying don't do it, just be aware of this. As for these cheapie chinese shite things, if you get one make sure you get someone who knows what they are doing to check it over for you before you ride it. They usually have dry bearings in the swinging arm etc and will sieze within days or weeks, best to get it sorted before you ride it. Just cos it's new doesn't mean its roadworthy especially at that price. Good luck! |

you would be better of getting a second hand 125 rather than a new cheap 50,

As said by petemid8 50cc is dangerously slow. Imagine pulling out of a junction onto a road with traffic bearing down on you at 50-60mph. They are death traps and should not be on the road. You need a bit of extra power to get you up to speed safely. Get a 125cc.

i have just sold my piagio zip that had a 70 kit on it and did 65mph and got there stupidly quick..but must admit i like my crosser at the minute with all the bloody potholes in the roads it takes them in its stride.

That'd be my first bike, if only I had the time & the money. Perhaps in a few years if I don't do RC and give up on Classic Minis - again...
