Didn't know you were a weather forecaster too Dianne! With all due respect we all have different circumstances and can make our own decisions accordingly whoever it may upset.
Personally, ive got to be sensible, this is only toy car racing, if I blow an ESC it'll be me not racing until 2012 (and miss the Chadderton meetings this winter!! Nooooo ) as I can't afford to throw money away when ive got other more important commitments, such as getting married. So if I see threat of rain on the weather forecast tonight, I won't even waste £30 worth of fuel making the journey in the morning, I'll have a lie-in and watch the F1.... this is looking likely to be honest for me, sorry. If it is on a hill, and it rains, drainage won't be an issue. What will be a bigger issue is marshal safety. If marshals are falling in the track, its very dangerous. |

im afraid ive pulled out its 3 hour jorney for me and that means i need to leave at 4.30 latest so the first come first serve is a gamble for me lol also if its really bad weather its a hell of a trip to not race { run the risk of blowing elecs }

That was the point I was making Chris - it is difficult to forecast the weather and I definitely cannot - even those who are paid to do it quite often get it wrong.
I agree with you - it is up to each individual to make their own mind up as to whether they make the journey or not. |

Can I clear something up then please. If theres no prebooking, even though I had prebooked, and I decide not to go, which to be honest is looking likely, I'm not going to get any form of penalty?
Adam and I don't have any wet tyres and agree with Chris, with all the cooling holes modern electrics don't mix well with water. I'm going to make my decision after watching the 10pm news and weather. I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything and its going to cause me a problem later in the series. Thanks. |

You need to do 4 out of the 6 meetings for your points to count towards your 'F' grade

Fair enough, I've done 2 already so just another 2 to go but what I meant was before the Southport event there was talk of penalties for no shows, thats what I was checking.

Spoke to Stu about the pre-booking thing and I think some people may have got the wrong end of the stick.
Stu has said it is up to the individual clubs how they deal with booking people in, be it pre book or turn up on the day and hope. What happens to people who think they have pre-booked and don't spend their life on the internet and now don't know the first race of the day is to just book in? Do you guys have noise issues with the locals? Do you really want 80 or more cars turning up at 7am to stand in a queue to book in?

we dont have any issues with noise, but don't want to make a racket really early and make an issue, i can't really see it being a problem people running gennys a bit earier, but if you know your going to need it early on, could you stick towards the school end rather than the houses

Just to ruffle a few feathers... why dont all the north east people race in their own regionals? I dont understand why they come over here in the first place?

Aaaargh, just doing some work on my b4.1 ahead of tomorrow, stripping the diff for a gander cos it wasn't feeling good and found the centre bearing has collapsed.
Anybody got one spare that's going to South Lakes tomorrow? If so, please come grab me - will be in a blue gazebo, black Golf, Phil Mitchell look-a-likey. Andy Grason

u cant just say its them tom its also people from NW that complain to about it as i see the numbers turning up are good for the region as it does well for the clubs also so its all a apart from the people that strugle to get in but they have come up with 11 in a heat if i have read correct and it worked fine and batley

I never said it was just them, i also dont think its a bad thing either, just curious as to why they come here and dont support their own regionals...

You say 'them from the NE' - you do not know where drivers live and the reasons for them choosing which region they want to race in. Could be a number of reasons eg NW regionals are run on a Sunday whereas the NE have been run on Saturday and Sunday (until this year when they are trying 2 of the meetings on 1 day). Some drivers like to race with friends they have met through racing but do not live in the same region. Distance in miles for travelling - some drivers may live nearer to the venues that are running meetings in the NW although your home postcode does not determine where you can race - it is a personal choice! Batley track is approximately same number of miles to the west of the country as it is to the east of the country but drivers do not travel from the Batley track they travel from home which could be even nearer to some of the venues. From Batley track (WF15 6LW) the distance in miles to the clubs in both regions is: Keighley - 16 miles Bury - 34 miles Southport - 74 miles South Lakes - 100 miles RHR - 50 miles South Shields - 115 miles Stannington - 125 miles Teesside - 85 miles (no regional this year) Increased attendance at the meetings gives more income to the clubs as drivers will come to the clubs to practice before a regional and once they have been to the meeting may enjoy it enough to come back and race there again. It also increases the income to the club on the day of the regional. I am sure that if you ask those who run the clubs whether they would prefer a regional with 40 drivers at a fee of £7 or one with 120 drivers the majority would say 120. Clubs welcome the extra income to help with the day-to-day running of the clubs. I do not know whether you are involved with the running of a club but you would appreciate the importance of this if you were. It also gives drivers the opportunity for more competitive racing - the race times at the Batley meeting were so close that a fraction of a second often determined the points for the round. It is only a few years ago that attendance in the NW regionals was very poor and this has gradually increased. Instead of 'ruffling feathers' as you put it - embrace the fact that drivers want to race in the region - it helps the clubs survive! |

Very well said dianne , I am from the north east region and race at the north west, I know a lot of people from that area, as well as I can only race on a Sunday due to work and family commitments . I normaly also run both classes which I can't do if I run the north east regionals.
The south lakes meeting yesterday was great by the way and well run thanks guys.
