Centro-like setups on X6?
Just about to get a X6 Sq. kit. Has anyone tried tweaking X6 setups in light of Centro setups? eg Less rear toe, less rear anti-squat?
Also ref camber links at rear - please does anybody know the distance between the rear inner ball joints (across the gearbox) with the standard X factory mounts and E-speed. Thanks! |

Eg On centro camber link distance is 50mm. |

Never looked at that measurement before. Eyeballing with a swindle stick, 1.900" center-to-center with the studs in the outside hole. That's on the bulkhead. Don't have a set of E-Speed hangers mounted up to measure.
(Just happen to have an SCX - 60CF here that I can measure quickly...) |

Thanks, 1.9 inches is just over 48mm so the Centro and X6 are quite similar.
Just measured B4 and it is about 48mm on the outer holes. Think I might see how I get on without the E-speed hangers to start with..anyone in UK run without them? |

Early days we all did, until Ellis designed them...

In Belgium we don't use it anymore.

Do you mod the mount so the stud sits any lower?

You can flip it up or down, and change those heights by using washers between the extender and the bulkhead.
In general, the extenders are not used on dirt tracks, but are used for most grass or astro surfaces. Very few U.K. drivers without them. |

short neck balls studs sometimes used yes

What studs do you use? Isn't there a problem with articulation angle?
I'm making up some rear inner camber link brackets..they will give the same lateral ball stud placement but put the stud lower (lower than short neck ballstuds could go) raising the rear roll centre and increasing camber change under bump. The idea is to give similar rear geometry to the Centro (although the X6 lower arms are a bit shorter). Anyone know what drill bit I need for a clearance hole (tight) on a 4-40 bolt? Either metric or imperial. Cheers. |

4-40 is ~2.8mm O.D..

I got my X6 sq. running finally this weekend and tried a more 'Benelux' setup without E speed hangers. The aim was to make the rear upper link angle more parallel with the lower wishbone than the standard setup (ie lower at inside and or higher at outside), without using what I consider to be short links. I took 1mm off the inner plastic mount and used low rise balljoints, and on the outside used racers edge hubs with 3 washers under balljoint (higher than on AE hubs). This makes the upper link pretty much parallel with the lower wishbone. As far as I can work out, this very roughly equates to the kind of geometry you get on the C4.1 when using about the 5th hole up on the inner mount. I also used only 2 degree rear anti squat and only 3 degree toe at rear. Coming from the B4, it was fantastic, what a difference. It was all going great until I popped a wheelie on the straight, lost control and went full speed into a wooden post. Result, broken chassis. I'm 100% sure no other car would have survived either. Loving the X6 sq. though, the build quality is fantastic, it feels like a proper 'engineered' product. Some other UK drivers should try this different flavour setup and see what they think.. If anyone has a plastic stick pack chassis going spare, please let me know! cheers.

Forgot to mention, the links I made up didn't work too well. There was too much flex.. The idea was to get the inner rear balljoint even lower..

I've found there is no point in going lower than 25mm above the wishbone.
