Hi
That looks awesome..I see you are placing a vintage tekin speedo! What servo are you using?
I do get the impression your speedo to motor wires will get in the way when you put your body on. I maybe wrong! |

By the way, do you think a 22t pinion is too big combined with the original spur for a brushed 13x2t motor? |

22 is fine, i used 23 but doubt youd need more than 22. For a 7.5 i would use a 25 or 26 pinion

So a brushless 7.5T motor would have the extra torque to justify such a big pinion? I always assumed the fewer turns the motor had, the smaller the pinion needed to be...

I use a 20 on my 5.5 so go up two teeth for a 6.5 and two again for a 7.5, thats the general rule of thumb for brushless motors, the smaller the number the less a pinion required.

Ok thanks! It's interesting to see how brushless motors seem to have a constant torque/RPM ratio, unlike brushed motors apparently. My knowledge in the electric department is very poor, since I had been doing only nitro on-road and off-road for the past 10-15 years.

!!!
Your car looks stunning . My advice is to get a body repro and keep the original one in a safe place, so if sooner or later you will be tired of running your car you can convert it into an amazing shelf queen . Bye Ema |

Great
Looks fantastic!
The wiring looks tidy now! What setup have you used? I like the Old Skool Magnum. Must have been chain smoking to get that finished! |

Thanks guys! I'm happy that you like it.
So I think the brushed motor didn't like the 5000 mah coming out of that lipo since it melted (the motor not the lipo). I think a 22t pinion was a bit too much as well but even with a 16x2 brushed motor and 17t pinion the motor gets really hot. So my bet is that the amperage is too high for a brushed motor. The esc and battery don't heat at all (well we'll see after I remove the fan from the esc though). Ema you're right so maybe later I'll get a body. ButI enjoy driving it with the original colors and the priority is given to a brushless Novak ballistic 540 (7.5t probably) and a rear gear box that has a belt tensioner. Naushad, the esc is a Novak GTB and the motor is a 16double brushed motor geared on a 17t pinion. The battery is a Protek 2s 7,4V 5000mah lipo battery. |
