Tamiya Porsche 959 - Always wanted one in the day but spent all my limited money on racing RC's so never had the funds for something I couldn't race. No way in hell I'd pay the price they go for on ebay either!

Otherwise I'd quite like someone to re-re a chain drive car, the Kyosho Optima perhaps or preferably the Progress.

There are so many old RC10's knocking about I can't see the point of a re-re. OK, some versions are rarer than others but if you want an old RC10 its easy enough to own one.

Id love the Porsche, for sure, its a car i always drooled over in the catalogue of that year, same goes for the Celica TBH, no silly modern chassis either, full bells and whistles like the Avante rere, i can live with the omition of a Techinigold though.

Turbo Scorpion for sure, another classy rail buggy i love.

Egress, looks like itll happen now too, and about time.

Tamiya Astute. I had one back in the day and I could buy second hand now, but I would prefer to build one fresh out the box.

Would be tempted to get the Egress as well if it came out.

The same as anyone else into vintage r/c, if you want an Egress almost all the parts to build one have been rereleased. Egress suspension and almost all transmission parts are in the Vajra, complete Egress transmission is available as Avante Torque Splitter Set. Tamiya have just rereleased the Egress shocks as well and the Egress black wheels were a bonus item included with the Avante Black Special.

All that's missing to build a new Egress are shock mounts, chassis plates and body, which hints that it wouldn't be too difficult for Tamiya to make the cars.

Personally I couldn't care less about rereleases. Sure they are handy for stocking up with spare parts when they are rereleased but I just don't get the fascination in getting a rerelease new in box when you can buy the original that has been built/restored/lightly run for a fraction of the rerelease price. You still have to buy them when the kit is released though as they are all limited runs.

Look how many here have posted that they would love a 959. I have one and enough new parts to build most of a spare car. Body is a bit tatty, plenty of good ones around to replace it with though, but it's total cost to me is £30 - yes, £30! Took a few years and I wasn't looking for one but bought it with some others when someone was clearing out their loft. If you want one you can pick them up in good condition on ebay for £100-150, maybe a bit more for a great one, yet a new kit will cost considerably more if Tamiya actually brings it out. If you want one just buy an original.

I rebuilt a Hotshot ten years ago, at the height of vintage collecting with prices at their peak, using all new plastic parts, new body, stickers, etc. It still worked out cheaper than buying a rerelease many years later.

Example terry. I have a incomplete tomy intruder and I cant find parts for that car, let alone in good condition so if it were ever to be rereleased I would probably buy it and use it.

There are some very cheap vintage cars out there but they are normally the ones that need a little (or rather lot) of TLC. The ones the collectors look at and decide its too much hassle to restore.
Now if you know about these models, thats not such a problem. So I'm fine with old RC10's, and Cougars and Optima Mids, even the PB Ace. But I've never owned a 959 and whilst I'd like to, I'd prefer not to buy a dog that going to be a costly nightmare to get running.
That means a minter or NIB (lots of money) or a re-re are my options. Since I'd run it, a re-re makes sense - no point killing a classic if you don't need to.

Thats your opinion Terry, but some people enjoy to build from the box, not a bunch of parts, i like to keep the packaging too, so if its on a rere and i want it, its the best possible choice.
Regards the 959, thats bull, in two years of hunting i never found a Tamiya bodyshell for less than £100, thats a HUGE piece of the 959 restore puzzle, and i wouldnt pay it.
Hence,i resigned to the fact that Tamiya may one day rere it in the £300 region, and id build it ALL from new, with a box to display it with.
