Default Rb6

I would not waste any money on bling and wait for the ally mid motor rear ball stud hanger as this is a major week spot on the car, if using the kit plastic one get a ball stud long enough to put a nut on the bottom or it will pull out very quickly. It also has a week front hing pin holder but there is a stronger one available now, an alloy front stealing rack works well too. Ghea magic pistons work really well to get the big bores working better. I have had trouble getting to grips with car in the wet but after Some good advice from roger the car is now wicked and drives on rails , I can't compair with the db1 as I have never driven one but I do have a lazer and find both cars excellent .
I hope that helps
Just one more thing the rb6 body shell does not cover the motor or gearbox fully and this area seems to collect a huge amount of dirt, new body shells are coming I am told to sort this out.
Oh and everything rusts including the springs.

I had the same issue on my 22 with the rear ball stud hanger (it must have a real name ) and changed that to an ali one and all was good. It was the front and rear that concerned me, i know you can get the ali front, i didn't know there wasn't a rear but the longer ball stud sounds like a good fix.
Ill be racing at silverstone and stotfold mainly as there my local clubs, im sure it won't get wet at silverstone, well i hope it won't , and im not a fan of racing outdoors in the wet with my 1/8 so the 1/10 is a nono, so the rust shouldn't be an issue. If it does get wet then theres always GT85 .

Thanks for the pointers

Ross

Penguin Custom Bodies do a shell that looks really good and goes right to the tower, look it up.

RB6 is really strong straight out of the box but for total peace of mind I'd fit the following;

alloy RF2 block (can't remember the part number but it's on the setup sheets)
KYOSHO alloy steering rack (I'd not bother with the bell cranks personally although they are beautiful)
Longer ball studs for both front and rear inner ball studs and the front outer ones (nuts on the end of the inner rears).

Only other thing to remember is to put grub screws in all the unused camber link holes, gives extra support.

So far only thing I have broken on the RB6 was a rear wishbone (radio glitch giving full speed impact to a catch fence).

If anyone is looking for an alternative front hinge pin brace there's a Losi part (LOSA4137) that's a direct fit and going by the reports on rctech.net seems to be a fair bit less bendy - you can also get two delivered from Apex models for about 6 quid about half the price of the new revised stronger brace methinks it's not as nice looking though, so depends if you can live with that...

I was going to ask if it's better than the DB1 but i think that may come down to my Thumbs

Cheers

I have both and race both. I like the RB6 a lot, especially thanks to Kev Lee last setups where I was able to gain some vivacity.
Can't stop racing the DB1 though so I kept both.
They have things in common. RB6 isn't as fast in corners but grips better in the wet (or a cold morning on a slightly wet track)

So what is the opinion of RB6 owners now that they have had some time with the car? I've seen a few people selling them that originally praised the car to the heavens, so is that just the usual latest greatest now let's get something else new, or is there more to it?. Anybody own an RB6 that came from running a 22, how do they compare?
