Default ESC combo HELP

Hi guy's

After your advice

I'm looking into getting a new ESC & motor combo .
Not to fast as most of you no i am a crap driver .

Any advice on what system to get

I dont want to spend a bomb but i also dont want low end.

Any advice would be very helpful

looking at the speedpasion reventon pro 8.5 turn
but i no some people have problems (don't no if it's just the reventon S & R that have problems)

The othere option is just to get a faster motor to run with my GM genius 90 (running a novak 13.5 at the mo)

Thanks all in advance

Gary

the problems with the reventon pro if u need to turn voltage and heat protection off also some motors can play upwith them but just remove the temp wire out of the sensor cable, they r working on this but works fine for me

maybe a hobbywing v3 also a smillish esc

if you want really cheap but really good the hobby wing v2.1 120 amp esc

all these esc have been or are being used down ur club so setup will be there also they just need the small programmers at track side, you use ur pc/laptop to just update firmwear

The GM90 is a very capable speedo ... I would suggest you just need to buy a hotter motor, maybe 7.5t.

What mode are you using the GM on at present?
You could try one of the hotter 'stock' profiles (6 to 9) to wind that 13.5 up.

Hi Gary

Might not be too much help but I went for a high end esc in the Orion R10 and a Stock (sealed can) 10.5t motor at £20.

Decided to let the esc do its job.

Thing is, we can corners, which you obviously don't see

Sorry, couldn't resist!

My GM is only happy when it's set to default setting ,
I have the usb cable to change settings via the PC but the ECS likes to reset itself to default setting at random times .this is a known problem with the 90 gen 1.

Not much help but I'd consider getting something like a hobbywing v2.1. There ave been several on here for sale recently. I've never had an issue with either of mine.

I like the hobbywing but the problem i have is that i am not sure if it will fit inside my losi 22 (it's a big esc and i dont no if it would overheat if i take the fam off .
has anyone done it ?
i no it will fit with a bulldog shell but thats another £20 plus i like the look of the standard shell

Gary,
As for the overheating issue, it really will depend on what gearing and timing you end up using, but I'd say 'most' speedos these days in a 2wd won't need the fan on them...

As a stop-gap you could try it with the fan off, but with the heat protection circuit on and see how it goes.

Sorry I've not got a 22, so no idea about space etc...

Garry I managed to fit a gm 120 in the front of a losi 22 and the standard shell still went on ok. Hobbywings are good value for money you wont go far wrong with one. You need to buy what you like thelook of and think will best suit your needs although I think your issue lies more with only running a 13.5 buy an 8.5 or a 7.5 problem solved no need for a new speedo.

Thanks James good idea .

I dont want it to be to fast 8.5 would be good(i find it hard enough to stay on the track as it is)
But a little more poke would be nice
Is there a big advantage to getting a sensored motor .
or is there not a lot in it ?
I no about cogging at low speeds but apart from that ?

Are the speed pasions any good or can you recommend another motor (without spending a bomb)

Thanks

Gary

id recomend the hpi pro flux/hobby wing v3 speedo not the cheapest at 135-175 but very good and solid speedo also has a small foot print so will fit in the 22. as for motors. there are loads under 65 quid. i am biased as am a hb driver but would recomend the hpi pro flux even tho i dont stock it lol. they are super smooth and reliable. you can buy spares if ever needed and they are under 65 notes at most shops

Default Orion

Orion r10pro all the way for me, for 160 you will get a speedo and a settings box. You can pick up second hand motors to keep the cost down. The speedo is built proof and very easy to use and change the parameters using the settings box. Spending a bit more now will pay in the long run if you intend to race for some time, Orion speedos also tend to hold there value. If you are on a real budget I managed to get a Novak gtb speedo for £25 , it does not come with a settings box but is a great speedo.

keep the speedo. get Ian M to look at it as may be a simple thing to sort with settings.

get yaself a 7.5 or 8.5 sensored motor, £30 used. away you go, job done.

I setup my esc via my laptop (a long time ago)
but if anyone has a gm genius 75/90 or 120 ESC i have the laptop cable and you are welcome to borrow it and have a play .i will also put the software on a USB stick .
The only thing i will say it that they are known to reset themself back to default settings .
