Staggers in 4WD?
Had a great days racing today, speaking to a couple of guys in 4wd and they seem to be running staggers on the front and reporting much better handling.
Are these stagger rib (slims) which are normally used in 2wd or are they the Cut staggers which are slightly wider? Sorry I didn't pay much attention or think to ask at the time?! |

Hi mate I believe this is the part number for the fronts from Schumacher,
U6770 - Cut Stagger - Low Profile - Yellow. I hope this helps. |

Would like to thank everyone at TORCH for a good meeting yesterday. Although was melting a bit by the end.
Just on the stagger comment, I tried staggers in first practice and found they had too much understeer. Personally I found the slim m/spike much better. Thanks Paul

Wouldnt part no. U6770 be correct as that's the 4wd width where as the U6759 is the 2wd width?

Thanks also to Kev Lee for the advice about top link positions, swaybars etc., it made a real difference. I found the cut staggers a bit unpredictable on the front of my 4WD in morning practice so I also went back to the 2WD front minispikes which were much better. Regarding the low profile cut staggers, would these not artificially change the rotating speed of the front wheels in relation to the rear because their diameter is smaller? With full-time 4WD (i.e no centre diff) this would have the effect of underdriving the front (or overdriving the rear), perhaps a more experienced 1/10th buggy driver could comment on how this would effect the car.

The only cut staggers I've seen on 4wd cars are the full height U6759 ones normally fitted with a tubby insert to fill out the tyre when stretched over the full width of a 4wd front wheel.
I think the low profiles are designed to be run without an insert on 2wd cars. Not sure on the under driving of the front wheels, you could try it with Schumchers on the rear and Ballistic Buggies on the front as the have different rolling diameters, BB being smaller. But the Hudy 1/8th set up book says that it's not recommended to under drive the front wheels. I guess with 1/10th and no centre diff you would put undue strain on the transmission. Anyway Alex when you get that DEX210 on the road you'll find out about the low profile cut staggers. |

staggers
Chairman Steve recommended them to us and they work well on the SX3.

DEX 210
Couldn't resist the deal MB Models had today Dex 210 £94.99 thats a saving of £100 on the normal price, had to buy one.
Never had a 2 wheel drive, so this will be fun building and driving. Will be happy to receive any build tips. Alex I'm actually hoping you will make a build thread. Bernard

What inserts should I run with the yellow mini spikes on the Rear? I've got some tubby inserts (medium) and Dboots in Soft?
As advised I got the cut staggers (non low profile) with tubby inserts and they fit perfectly on the 4WD fronts so just need to match the rears now? |

What about the fronts? (Mini spikes) Reason I ask is that I have no idea what I'm currently rotating on as I bought the car and everything with it used so I've never purchased new tyres/inserts before. The old inserts came out looking quite flat, are they still useable? (The rears were Red!) |
