ZX-RR Question
Hi,
today I have got the Lazer ZX-RR from ebay in good condition. In the package, there was the manual in english (ZX-R), the supplement instruction manual (ZX-RR) and a german version of a manual for the ZX-RR version. The car has the golden shocks, short shocks at the front. I had believed, the ZX-R has middle shocks at the front an the ZX-RR has the equalizer-shocks. This car ist still originial, it has the hyper-clutch. In the ZX-RR manual, there are shown the short golden shocks for the front. So I am a bit confused. Please explain me the differences. I thougt, ZX-R(R) has allways middle length shocks at the front. I am positive surprised about the german instruction manual, the is the assembly of the hyperclutch shwon in detail, better as in the supplementary-paper and much more other informations. I have never seen such a manual before. Thank you! Regards Ralf |

It lools like an RR but closer to the end of the production of this car the equalizer shocks got added instead of the gold shocks.

Would the kamtec shell for the zx-s (LA-122) fit on the lazer ZX-R?

Yes but its a tight fit, you'll need to buy the associated B4 servo side mounts and use the 1mm spacer to push the servo further inwards on your chassis to get it to fit the under tray. Also would advise not cutting the end off until you have held it against the chassis as the end is shorter on the zxs compared to the ZXR so you may not need to cut off as much. Be advised that you will need to be patient cutting it out as there are no lines to follow but is worth doing as its a quality product. Have a set of small sharp curved scissors handy as it will be needed.

to Ralf: Middle shocks in front
Hi Ralf,
to me it looks like your car has the medium shocks in front. Did you compare the length to other short and medium Gold shocks. Overall the car seems to be in great condition. Have fun! Cheers Ralf |

Hi Ralf,
Yes I have compared the shocks. The medium shocks from you are longer as the shocks in the new ZX-RR. I have ever believed, the ZX-RR has medium length shocks at the front. But the manual and the very impressive german instruction-paper shows the short shocks. So it is crazy, that the ZX-RR from ebay-Kleinanzeigen had medium equalizer shocks. I was really surprised about the good condition oft the Lazer. All I need is an original rear wing for ZX-RR, this part is damaged. Regards Ralf |

While we're talking about shocks, I need to replace the ones that my ZXRR came with. So, Kyosho Big Bores or Equalizers?
Also, it looks like my RR came with short shocks on the front too. I thought it was just because it was a parts build but maybe not? |

Have open up the front shocks? In the ZX-R mk2 instructions the medium shocks have a space put under the piston to slightly shorten the medium shocks.

Hi,
yes, I have opened the golden front-shocks, there is no spacer inside. It seemed to be very various, what kyosho addet to the ZX-RR with shocks. I have asked the first owner of my new ZX-RR again, he did not changed any parts, it is still original, except the wheels and tires. It would be better, if he would have done a better paint-job. He has not used spray-color, only a brush. The decals are ok, no scatches, only the under-tray has some cratches. But the rear-wing is damaged. Is this part still available (no similar, oly the same)? Regards Ralf |

If your racing outdoors then big bores but you will need the shock mount fitting for the car the shocks were made for as they wont fit the zxr ones, for indoors a lot of people prefer normal shocks.

All the parts for my ZX-S Evo are either ordered or sorted. Quick question on the shock colour. The original manual box art photo shows the gold shock tops and bottoms but I've only ever seen pics of blue ones.
I've got both colours but wondered which are more authentic. Also, was the kick up plate always anodised blue? Cheers

I have a question.
Is the motorspacer (metal-plate) between ;otor and LA 18 necessary? Why sould I use it? I dont mean LA 19. |

I always used a metal heatsink spacer between the motor and motor plate to keep the motor cooler, but when the alloy top deck mount appeared i stopped using as the heat was dissapated through the top deck mount and meant i could gear higher and not burn out my brushed motors. If your brushless motors do get hot then its a good idea to have attached to you motor.

I thought the spacer only had a function when running motors with vent holes on the pinion side. I haven't seen it on my Lazer ZX Sport, but the Mid definitely came with this spacer.

During using this spacer the contakt aerea between motor and motorplate is smaler as without this spacer. So I believe the heat can better go away without this spacer. My brushless has not these holes. May be I am wrong.
This smal plate was mounted between brushed motor and motorplate in my ebay-ZX.RR. Regards Ralf |
