Chris-S and I are working really hard on this (Chris more than me in truth). We are currently debating shock pistons and how much extra weight is needed.
We'll both be running them at Kidderminster this weekend so will be able to feedback more after that. |

Here is a link to what I am starting with on Sunday, medium grip astro and very bumpy track.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1q...it?usp=sharing As Roger says, we have been playing with additional weight. The DB2 is a light car, which means you can easily add extra where you want it. I have fitted a 45g zx5 spine weight underneath the prop and added 10g either side of the slipper. Not a fan of having additional weight at the ends of the car as you end up with a pendulum effect and snappy handling. The additional weight improved the stability on the rough track.

Cheers Chris, will look at setting up similar to yours as my club track is extremely bumpy and rutted. With regards to adding weight I'll look at putting something down the spine and taking it from there. Are you running weight in the lipo tray too?
Thanks |

With the weight under the lipo the car is out of balance.
Did some testing with Orion gear and it's perfect without the weight.

I found on my DB2 for my low level driving skills than with its light weight the car is very very lively, could easily be overpowered (6.5 was powerful but combine with low weight it was hard for my brain to follow).
But where I found smallbores were ace on the DB1 and RB6 I found a soft Bigbores setup on the DB2 worked wonder to smooth it out, reduce tire wear and give the chassis an easy driving. |

Adding weight in the spine for sure makes the car drive easier but its slower on lap times. The balance of weight v speed has to be found for the individuals. I will also add that we are now testing the weighted prop shaft like we run in the DB1. David Burton, Steve Brown are finding it really good - I am still stubborn though This is available on special order

Interesting what you say about the balance with Orion kit.
When I measured the Orion equipment it was about 240g for the motor/ESC/cap/switch/wiring and about 215g for the shortie lipo. As the motor / ESC etc. is further from the centreline than the Lipo it will generate more moment so the Lipo side would have to be havier to compensate for that moment so adding 34g under the LiPo just about does that ... I've actually got a 7g weight on my front Lipo strap post to balance my car out |

Hi Tony,
I'm good thanks., hope you are doing fine also. Going to weigh everything again this weekend and do some testing. The strage thing is that I checked the weight on 4 small balances and without the lipo weight it's perfect? Anyway, going to check it out and let you know. CHeers Quote:

Just on another note for everyones info.
We are currently testing a weighted prop shaft like the DB1 had. We are also testing with a motor spacer to push the motor back in wet conditions. Although the car is good in wet conditions we want it even better. You will all also see the chassis (all of them) have been designed with the cut out going further back beyond where the motor normally sits. We will report once back to back testing is finished as we don't want to put on the market something that has no advantage Catch up soon

Hi Tony,
you are 100% correct about the weight of the Orion electrics and the 34gr brass. the car sits perfectly with this combo P.s When you find some time could you update the setup page on petit rc or post some set ups on your site? Cheers!

Should I have had the lipo weight in the kit?
