Personally I used to use Mardave VSR and VSF's (Meteor/Cobra tyres)
on my Optima Mid for longer grass. They tend to be a good length on the spike and are soft to give decent bite, not sure if you can still get 'em though,so maybe Schumacher spikes would give you something along the same lines. On short/worn grass,Schumacher mini-pins were always favorites. |

I don't run 4wd but 2wd Schumacher yellow spikes on dry and ballistic buggy green when whet and cut staggers on front dry possibly spikes when wet

Just start with your dry and wet astro set ups and tyres and see how it goes. On very worn grass (dirt/dust) then good luck! Could try Schumacher silver compounds or USA type dirt tyres like hole shots etc
will just add that rear wear rate is quite high on grass and worn tyres don't work very well |

On long grass where you only contact the grass and don't bite down to the ground Shumacher full spikes (blue) are excellent

On worn out grass tracks, DBoots Multibites work very well & last a decent time to.

Schumacher yellow minispikes for normal worn and dry grass.
Ballistic buggies minispike in green are the one most choose now in wet grass. at Batley (part grass/part worn old astro) we use those. Schumacher full spikes in "soft" for retro grass/mud racing with an old school feel. http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php...pike-rear.html there is also a newer full spike in Yellow compound: http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php...-2-yellow.html Yokomo TR32's in the wet (if you can find them now). Some run schumacher minispikes in silver, but not used them myself.

+1 on the dBoots multibytes.
I have run them on both 2wd and 4wd on grass when it was new and worn. Across a weekend event i ran 28 runs and used 4 sets rear tyres so the wear rate is amazing.

Has anyone tried schumacher yellow full blocks on grass? I bought a couple of sets and am going to try them out at hinckleys full grass track next Saturday. Don't think they'll beat minispikes on times but I'm not that quick anyway

+1 for the dBoots Multibytes (tested on 2WD) - but imo only on the rear (I find them too unpredictable on the front). They wear slowly too and their profile is chunky enough to survive small debry hidden in the ground - something I think the MiniSpikes will be less happy about.
For the fronts I'd try cut staggers... |

To keep it simple..
Yellow mini spikes in the dry or dusty track Green mini spikes if its damp Ballistic greens if its wet TR32's or full spikes if its very wet and muddy.

That's not the spirit Simon we need a glorious day of old school grass racing
On a selfish note though it would be great to run indoors as the KF is going so well now
