Had great race this weekend.
My first ever drive of a 4wd buggy. Icy slippy astro. I drove quite gentle but wow what great fun. Made A9 finished A8 Stupidly with about 30 seconds to go I saw 2 cars I recognised behind me so picked a banked corner went high to let them pass clean as they quick guys. Added 2 sec to my lap. Then stuck to back of them to the line. They werent lapping me. They were behind me lol lol. Still huge amounts to learn but first impressions are wicked

Hey there Tony! Well worth trying out the centre diff if you're running the 401 on slippy astro this winter. We use 30k in the centre and 15k Front 10k Rear.

Ok thanks.
I had no clue. So just used what i had laying around lol. Centre slipper as I had fitted it ready for a carpet meeting. Had 5k front 3k rear diff oil. Drove nice. But track was icy and no real chance to change things so I just drove it. Tried it today on carpet. Going to try 10k front and rear. Need to stiffen rear suspension I think. Out of tight corners it looks great. Inside front wheel pawing the air. Hahaha

well.. had it a while now
all I can say is I love it went with a quicker better motor as the old one was a budget 8.5 and really wasnt on the pace out on track now running an Orca 6.5 car is stupid strong, flat out on main straight indoors at weekend I moved over a touch and no idea what happned but it ended up on the plastic track marker and just skied flat out along it and into the wall at the end, sickening sounds, even marked up the blockwork... marshall picked it up, looked puzzled, threw it on track and it was fine?? LOL when I have done my part and driven it properly I have had some great results, my fastest lap times always ultra close to the fast guys Im racing with, just my own consistency issues to deal with very happy with it need to look at stiffening suspension as it likes to lift front inside wheel a bit much Ive just simply dropped it on track and charged lipo for 3 or 4 meetings now, need to look at what to change and setups to use, but if it goes that well as it is....

yeah I havent even unpacked the kit springs LOL
Im on basically the same springs, 1.3 bar front, 1.6 rear. 2wd gullarm rear arms, spaced centrally baring in mind that I was new to buggies (2wd) in June, and this was my first ever 4wd buggy bought at xmas... Im loving it everyone thats seen it says it looks great on track, and if I can get it round quick, well it cant be that bad the noise is marmite, as an engineer it hurts me LOL, but people know when your on track, last meeting there was 2 of us in same heat, indoors, they sound great winding it up and howling down straight hahaha

The 401 is a fantastic car. Great value for money and built like a tank.
The new LW version has the new quiet gearboxes and the car is a fair bit quieter. The noise offended me and a few other of the team drivers, so we worked with Kev Lee and PR to develop the new boxes. They can be purchased to replace the standard ones if you want. Loads of PR setups on Petit RC. Go on there and see what the team guys are up to! Jimmy

cheers I now have the new gearboxes and yes its bit quieter
been running it indoor on carpet, thats only place I have driven it, but its so much fun, like a tank and everyone thats seen it has commented on how good it makes my driving look.... hahaha Im not up with the real fast guys, but Im ahead of many that been doing it lot longer than me, thats my experience holding it back, bought it Xmas, and its my first ever 4wd, only started off road buggies in June last year 4wd was bought as it was good deal and I wanted a backup class, regionals this year here are 2 day affairs, so I thought why not make a weekend of it, silly travelling for just 1 day turns out I love the 4wd and Im better with it than my 2wd LOL
