What foams/inserts to choose for 1/10 buggy on astro with Mini-pin/spike ?
Going to drive XB4 1/10 4WD buggy only on grippy astroturf for outdoors-season, using Schumacher Mini-pins/spikes.
A: So what foams for grippy astro, with Schumacher yellow Mini-pins/spikes on dry astro ? B: And what foams for wet astro conditions with blue Mini-pins/spike ? -Last season I used Proline Closed cell with yellow mini-pin/spike front and rear with the B44 on dry grippy astro. But up for other ideas/experiences ? Aka reds ? Maybe I`ll try the aceton-technic to re-use rims and foams, then durability is also a question ? -On wet astro I felt that the softer Schumacher medium standard foam insert was more grippy, that proline closed cell was to hard/firm. Thinking maybe the JConcepts medium closed cell could be perfect, stable/stabile driving like Prolines, but a bit softer durable insert ? Ideas/experiences ? F.ex how would you arrange these inserts in hardness ? And then durability/re-use ? JConcepts Firm closed cell Proline Closed cell Aka red closed cell Jconcepts Medium closed cell ...any forgotten... Experience with 2WD rear tires/foams are also welcome, even though 2WD is a little lighter car than 4WD, so probably can go for softer foams ? |

Unless you are some sort of hero it's not going to make a big pile of difference. Just make sure that whatever insert you use fills the tyre nicely, firm foam inserts will be fine.
In the wet use greens, not blues, either Schumacher or Ballistic Buggy. When the tyres are done cut them off, remove the insert then soak the rim in acetone with just the bead still on.

AKA reds work well and consistent. Use them on Rallyx too but only thing to consider is supply was a bit sparse last year although that should change now they have a new distributor.
