Can i test my head unit by connecting the live and neutral to a 12v battery ?
or is this a rumour ?

Just thought you might want to run a fuse between them too just to be safe, but i think most run on internal fuses or something anyway? otherwise halfords would struggle to wire them up

i doubt it would be a problem because theres no transformers used in cars or anything, just wouldn't want to see you blow it up from a power surge or something. electricity is a funny thing, managed to blow the sky box up last weekend cutting a cable in the garage which was connected to a breaker that was switched off, still have no idea how

I run a head unit in my work room right off a computer PSU, and as long as you know which wire (12v+, 12v Constant and earth), then great.

right, car battery was flat
![]() i put a link between the earth to the neutral on my power supply, a link between the constant live on the head unit and the live on my power supply. then i put a link between the ignition on the head unit and touched it onto the live on my power supply SUCCESS !!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
