I don't run them myself, but I believe some people have been able to take a little out of the ballcup to get the clearance without loss of strength.

you can cut a v shape in the ball cup where it would hit the hub filling down the hub is fine too which some do but you may not want to file down expensive rayspeed hubs when you can cut a small bit of a cheap ball cup

Thanks for the info Paul and mike will try the ball cup mod first I presume a sharp knife will do?

Yes a V cut in the ball link works fine, I used j concepts ball links and have not broke one yet
Ellis run 2 washers under the ball stud so this gives you more room |

I thought Ellis had his hubs machined lower though for wider setup options and 2 washers put it back to origional height again correct me if i'm wrong

Yep as you have both said mine are lowered. However the washers take it back to stock height...which I pretty much run everywhere.

I know this is resurecting an old thread, but I can't see an answer elsewhere!
What is the advantage of these hubs compared to the standard B4 hubs? |

The vertical adjustment of the ballstud.......

erm, yes, but what is the advantage of being able to do that?

To be honest only the fact you can position the ball stud as high or low as you want to change the roll centre. It is however a setting that we VERY rarely experiment with. If you are thinking of getting some alloy hubs just to have more adjustement, then there is no need, but if you already have them, you may as well stick them on.......

Flipping your E-Speed hangers from up to down will have much the same effect as raising the ball stud at the hub. It's not perfectly equal, and I'm sure one of the engineering-type Boyz can discuss the difference between lowering the inside and raising the outside.
Our rear bulkhead is built the odd way it is so you can have vertical adjustment there too. If you've got the E-Speed hangers, flipping them from up to down (or vice-versa) makes a large change, but you can add-subtract washers under the hanger to get just about any position you like. Ellis was a genius when he designed that part. |

Thanks for your replies, I should have added that this was in reference to a B4, but this was the closest topic I could find to resurect!
