Default 501x radio installation advice / Interferance for brushless?

Iv started a new thread as it seems that a few of you have sufferred when it comes to interfearance when running brushless.

Iv seen the radio installation pics of various brushless installations and have noted the various rx positions.

Iv just bought a new gtb 4.5 and intend to fit, i know its going to be tight as the 5.5 that i run in my zx-5 is tight and that has more room.

Any advice as to where i should try and squeeze everything in?

Thanks.

Col.

Col, keep the reciever away from the motor and motor wires, as there is a lot of rf noise generated by the motor, it might just be ok with a micro reciever to stash it next to the speedo. I had the mother of all jobs trying to shoe horn it all in, and in the end went back to brushed as I couldnt be doing with the problems that it generated.

Strange. I always thought BL motors generated a lot less EM noise due to the motor not sparking at the brushes.

anyway, I run my TRF501 with a receiver in front of the motor and haven't experienced any problems.

Same here, I've been running my receiver in front of the motor and haven't had any problems (I'm using the LRP brushless system).

Ps - Just out of curiosity, have you tied the motor wires together with tie wraps or anything as they look very close to the belts.

Thanks, Col! I have to admit I am a 'neat freak' with my cars

The link wasn't working because the first picture I uploaded was a bit on the small side, so I was busy replacing it.

Good luck with your installation....

No tie wraps on the motor wires. I did try securing them to the alloy bulk heads initially, but looked a bit messy so thought I'd go without.

The bodyshell doesn't press down on the wires and I have been keeping an eye out, but so far there's not been a sniff of even a mark from the belts (it's completed 4 race meetings). There is just a touch of slack in the wires so they naturally loop up slightly as they pass over the bulkheads and front belt (clearance is around 5mm to the belt).

Andy.
