Default Bearings for the ZX5 FS

Hi Guys,

Was wondering what type of bearings you like to use.

As I'm currently running the kit bearings with that white meshing stuff on which I'm not to keen on.

I was thinking of running ceramics on the car as they feel so much smoother.
I already run these in my MP9 for over year now still going strong

What do you guys like to use metal or rubber shielded.

Do we use any flange bearings on the car?

Was thinking of trying the RC bearings or ACER ones.

I have used RCBearings and the price and speed of delivery was great. Got a set for my ZX5 and also RB5.

I would advise using rubber sealed version instead of metal shields as they are much better and keeping debris out and lube in.

Bearings with ceramic balls will be lighter but should not be smoother than bearings of a similar quality with steel balls. The reason that ceramic bearings are usually claimed to be 'better' is that they are generally made from higher quality components and are compared to the low quality bearings found in many (most) car kits. They are marginally better when running with reduced lubrication but in my opinion have limited advantages due to the much higher price.

Hope my 2 penneth helps.

Hi Rob,

That white meshing is a Teflon Shield.
They are very very good the bearings are pre-greased and so far i havent had one leak fail or bind. would say perhaps better than the rubber seals from what we have seen so far.

You should know that Kyosho only supply the highest grade of bearings.
Of course this can mean they are not the cheapest but if you look after them they will last for years.

The Kyosho bearings are indeed very high quality.

I run bearings from RCBearings.co.uk in the exposed areas of my cars as I prefer to change them regularly (every couple of meetings) as I do not have as much time as I would like for maintenance (which makes the fact that Kyosho cars are SO reliable a really good thing).

Be careful of some "cheap" bearings and equally don't be swayed into paying vastly over the odds for uber ceramics or similar, with modern motors / cells there is little to zero benefit over high quality normal bearings.
