c4.1 - The bits we'll also need...
I'm trying to anticipate what parts I'll need to complete a c4.1 without gutting my B4. I have most of the bits, but I fully expect there'll be a few fiddly parts I'll need, so would far rather have them ready than discover I'm short halfway through the build!
Anything with a (?) is uncertain, may or may not be included with the kit. Screws: Lots of these, mainly 4-40 sizes as per B4.1 manual. Possible use of metric on the chassis? Maybe some included? Bearings: As per B4.1 manual, note the metric outdrive bearings. Maybe CML will throw some in as Team Xtreme did? Chassis: Bulkhead Top brace Steering assembly and bridge Servo mounts (?) Bumper/skid plate Suspension: Complete shocks (f/r) plus bushings/spacers/screws/lock nuts Front shock tower Wishbones (f/r) Caster blocks (f/r) - either B4.1, B4 or B44 usable in rear. Steering knuckle and front axle Hinge pins (inner and outer, f/r) Turnbuckles and ball cups Ball studs - as per B4.1 manual. Rear CVDs (either B4 or B4.1, both suitable) Conical axle spacer and roll pins Diff: Complete ball or gear diff (metric bearings on outdrives, previously mentioned). Gearbox: Slipper clutch and spur gear Not sure about this - will check B4.1 manual. Will there be many custom bits for this, or just the extra idler gear? Stuff possibly not needed/compatible: Rear T-piece and hinge pin braces, anti-squat shims, rear chassis brace, wing mounts (?) Stuff definitely not needed: Chassis, gearbox case, shell, rear shock tower, motor guard PDFs are currently inaccessible to me, broadband is at dial-up speeds - I'm bound to have missed stuff, I'll add it to this post when prompted.

Even looking at the list above, you will be amazed how buying all the parts seperate will add up to some serious £££, I would bet it will still be far cheaper to buy the whole B4.1 kit to start with (plus you get the benefit then of having all the unsued bits left over to sell on to recover back some money if you wish).
We found this when we first had the original X6 converisios, just the parts needed, came to £15 more then buying a whole B4 FT kit at the time......... Still very good value for a car that is performing so well at present, plus if you "do" keep the B4.1 left overs you do have the ability to go back to rear motor layout should the track and conditions etc require it (similiar to the 22 concept I guess)

I wouldn't even consider for one minute putting a used kit with a new c4.1 !
New new new and sell the rest on as per Darren said!

A list of hop ups for it would be good also!
Are all the brass posts at the front going to be optional or are they going to be blue anodised items? Also I'm guessing there will be weight kits around if they've been used and tested to work. Front bulkhead wise I'm guessing itl be brass I've heard alot about the front shock towers being wrong and right ones so which is the best one to use??? Gaz

Alas, not an economically viable option - by my reckoning, all I need are ballstuds, new bearings, hubs, driveshafts, slipper clutch and gearbox innerds. Plus the new gear diff I was going to get anyway. Shopping around/some items at trade price, that should cost about £70. I'll also be acquiring the c4.1 at trade price, so hopefully £200 or so the lot.

A lot of my customers have already brought B4.1 kits to build the C4.1, they have sold the body, chassis, tyres, battery strap, rear tower ect on here or at local clubs, this worked out cheaper than buying all the parts

shocks
So what everybody feeling regarding shocks for the centro? V2's, old school losi's, 22 big bores (if they fit?) I guess those buying FT kit to convert will go with v2's but what about everybody else?
Thoughts please
