Get grip on Clay
Hi all!
I hope I post this in the right section, So I've got a quite specific question here. We're currently renewing our track in Belgium (Sprimont), and it's an outdoor track made of clay. Now my question is, do anyone know what kind of product/liquid, we could spray to get more grip on clay? Or is there any known product everybody uses automatically when creating a track made of clay? It will be made for 1/10 and 1/8 buggies and 1/10 Sort Course. I don't know where I heard once that Coke can be sprayed on clay to get more grip... Really don't know if it's a great idea... Hope to read something interesting soon! cYa |

I think good tires will do the job :d

I guess it should, but as it's not just about which tires I will choose but more about how the club can make the track more "comfortable" for the whole community, that's why I post this general question :P

Wel, maybe you could at some parts with carpet,
You said you are from Belgium? Maybe you should check our track it's located in Oudenaarde We have some parts with astro/carpet it helps to get more traction in some corners.. Maybe you could race once so you could feel how it drive

We are from Sprimont - RC Electro Liege, we already had a track on clay but on some parts we were missing grip so we added some carpet/astro too, but then it's not as nice as to have a full clay track
Still I guess this possibility will have to be taken in account if we don't find anything else. We could eventually manage to visit your track but it's a bit far away! I'll let you know when ours is ready again. PS : If everyone else has an idea I'm still willing to hear it

hmm fully clay?
in America they run full clay tracks but I'm not sure what they do with their clay. I think you need a special mix of dirt? Also if you search on google some pictures of clay track in America you almost see no dirt.. it's very packed so it's really hard like concrete. Wow yes I see it's like 200km If you have some time y can always visit us when we have a race http://www.mrco.comuv.com/MRCOindex.htm Great, I hope you manage to make it a full clay track

Yeah I already saw some full clay tracks that looked quite hard as you said it was not really a clay/dirt track after all...
I think it will really depend on the type of clay we have too. I guess we'll have to test the track once finished to check if we're really missing some grip on some parts of the track before trying to spray anything on it. And I think in america they use some kind of oil to make the clay the most compact possible...

I think you spray things like sugar water to bring grip up.

I think it won't help much because when it will rain all the sugar will flow away..

Would be more some kind of oil to protect from water and sugar to make it sticky... But well, who knows if this kind of mix exists and if it does really change things...
