New 2wd In Development?
Well if you believe what you read anyway!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schumacher_Racing_Products "Future As of the past, times have recently changed in the RC world and 1/10th scale off-road has gained some popularity in parts of the world and Schumacher have started development on the new CAT. This has led to some excitement, with a few enthusiasts remembering the time in the past (mid 1980s to mid 1990s) when Schumacher was a dominant force in this class. Schumacher also will continue with their successful touring car and fun car range. The following are confirmed to be in development:
The Mi3 was seen with small developments throughout the 2007 winter season, such as lightweight bulkheads and a different shape top deck. Most other manufacturers will have new chassis or updates out for the 2008 Touring Car Euros and 2008 Worlds, so Schumacher are sure to follow. The CAT 2WD buggy was announced in the previously mentioned CAT SX information."

Wow that wikipedia article has changed loads since I first wrote it a few years ago. Anyway, the CAT 4000 was ran at the Euro's too I think, the feedback was a little less then positive I assume..........
Schumacher did say that they might consider 2WD depending on the success of the SX did they not? I doubt they will brand it as a CAT, that has been exclusively for 4WD models since the Topcat I think (Cougar, Cougar 2, Fireblade etc). An updated Cougar 2 would do me nicely, Cougar 3 please Schumacher...... |

I bet they're getting there Snickers in a twist over the Cat4000 development and never finishing, then now the SX. Wonder where they got the information from, they may have asked Cecil himself? I mean, how many people know that Cecil invented the ball differential other than those that work with him and some of us, oh and his family.

And anyone that read the wikipedia page, or the information page on the Schumacher website, or anyone that's been in RC long enough..
Is anyone else confused by Chris's post? Sounds like a rant but I can't figure out about what. |

Don't worry, Chris is special
I'll not sit on the fence, I think it's either a rant or it's not. G

no it wasn't a rant. What I meant is that to know Cecil did the ball differential then you'd have an interest in ... ball differentials or Cecil. So yeh, I would expect you guys to know, as you do, but I wouldn't expect some random Joe to know.... so what I was getting at, is average Joe must have researched well to find out about the ball differential to include in Wikky, and so perhaps the 2wd comment is true, and the development of the SX did start at the 4000? or perhaps it did in 'boardroom/director talk' (whereas in reality its a million miles away and the talk of continuation of that development was just to keep the bank & investors happy)
I didn't watch the TV program, its not exactly erm, Family Guy is it , and without anyone linking to Wikky, then i wouldn't have read that either. I'll get my coat, im confusing myself. |

...and just about everybody who raced before 1990.
Remember the article is on Wikipedia, never accept anything on there as reliable as just about anyone can write and edit it - I've changed a couple of errors in the Schumacher entry in the past and any of us can add to it, or correct any mistakes, or add any rumours we want, in fact just corrected the SX in 2005 line to CAT 4000 myself. No random Joes are attached to Wikipedia to research the subject then create the wikis, they are written by anyone with an interest in it already.

Ah yes, I see what you are saying now Chris.
But nope. I wrote the original wiki on Schumacher a few years ago (asking Robin Schumacher to check facts along the way), and I put in about Cecil making the ball diff, and development of the CAT 4000. However it's since been modified multiple times by all sorts of random folk so I'm not sure we can count good ol' wikipedia as a trusted source source on the 2wd buggy. I really hope it's coming though |
