Default Novak GTB: Increasing brake strength

Is there a way to increase brake strength on a Novak ESC? Don't ask why, I just need to do it!

Yep, it's actually for a new Novak Mongoose system (18th scale sensored brushless system). The setup is the same as the GTB (they've even shipped some of the same product literature with it!) but the brakes are almost non existent.

Also, it ships with a sintered neodymium rotor as standard.

I have tried everything, I reset the model memory on my Esprit III, did the 1 button setup, set minimum brake to 1, drag brake to 2. Checked throttle and brake EPA's (both 100). Can't think of anything more to check?

Well the drag brake is the braking effect that can be applied to the motor by the speedo when you are coasting. As Dan said, you normally turn this down in 10th off-road. I would turn up the inital brake a few notches, try that?
