my sidewinder says it supplys 5v to the esc and the fan says 7v on its sticker is there anywhere else i could plug it in ?

just wondering because i dont want to be starving my servo and reciever causing any range issues or steering problems

The fan will run fine on 5V, and shouldn't cause any problems with power consumption - it'll draw nothing in comparison to the servo.

If you do seem to have any issues with range or a lack of power after fitting the fan, then fit a capacitor into the battery port of the receiver (Spektrum make one with the Rx lead already wired up).

A 7v fan will ran slower than intended on 5v. Alternatively, you can wire it to the battery to ESC + and - wires and then it will run faster than intended.

Avner.
