agh need advice royal flash / short course.
Wanted to get myself a 4wd and bought a royal flash but then had a go with a cheap hi moto short course truck and love the way it looks and handles.
Is the ansmann short course any good (hardwearing and good handling)? Should I stick with the royal flash? If I keep the royal flash are there any upgrades I should be thinking of. It's got a brushless motor and esc and uprated gears. Many thanks. |

The chort course is most ready for competition with good option.
The royal flash is more for bashing. For me it's more interesting to go on the short course, or the X4.

the flash wears out diff internals and drivegears and strips cogs with brushless power
to be honest its not as strong as an sc truck and not as easy to get spares i started woth a flash but very quickley got a bmax 2nd hand and it was better get a sc truck or decent buggy steer clear of the flash if you wana go brushless

If you go the SCT route be carefull as as some are NOT SCT size!!
Go for the Core SCT as that is about the same size as say the SC10 etc

I had a royal flash and went down the brushless route with it and had no end of trouble. Firstly the gearing is totally wrong for brushed and makes the motor work very hard so when you put brushless in you will need to buy a metal gear set off ebay for about £30. With that sorted the next thing will be diffs bing shreaded due to poor quality metal. Next the chassis is so flexible you'll find the motor twisting the chassis and moving the gears out of mesh and then you'll lose gear teeth. I tried for ages and finally made a decent alloy chassis that I also sold on ebay that cured the problem but then I moved to the suspension being the weak point and that keeps breaking.
all in all the flash is ok in standard form with the stock motor but as soon as you try to go quicker the thing just cant take it |

plan made
Sounds like I should sell the flash without the electrics and buy a SC drop the ezrun into that instead.
Anyone got any suggests on a Short Course? |

oh no's
Got the royal flash today and first of all I have to say, what a good looking bit of kit, looks ace. However tried it and striped the pinion just trying it in the house with as little throttle as i could, it moved about 2 foot in all It has metal replacement gears but I think the 5.5t ezrun is still to much. Anyway, going to strip the electrics off and prob sell it to someone who has the brain power and time to get it right. I put it in the sale section for the weekend at some point.
