Default C4.1 Battery Brace

Guys,

Just a tip I've done, I've used the knurled knobs and screws from a B44.1 kit and replaced the countersunk washers and socket cap screws. Think this will be less fiddly to install.

However, I still think this method is not as good as it could be so I'm just wracking my brains to find/make a slightly better solution.

I've such clumbsy/think fingers its all a bit tight near the motor end.

Any idea's?

Have you tried fitting the bodyshell with the thumb screws? The rear ones might be OK, but the fronts will probably catch.

From running the car for nearly a season, I've only ever undone the screws by about 2 turns each and NOT all the way. This gives plenty of room to remove the saddles.

Hope that helps.

No Phil

Shell went straight to Custom Blitz from the shop.

Don't think it'll work then, wonder if my fan will clash as well?

The shell will catch if you use the thumbscrews on the front pair of battery posts.

The holes on the brace are too big, itd work the screws loose. The thumb screws are convex bottomed so fill the hole in brace to stop it moving. Plus the (missing) 3/8 length screws arent long enough to reach the post. Im using 5500 90c orion saddles.

If the brace had the right size holes for the screws. Id find longer screws to use.

Apply heat to shell and will encourage gently clearance for front thumb screws.

I get it now, cheers Ben.
Spacing the posts up, so the posts fill the holes in the brace - makes sense now. Will do this before Sunday..

Couldn't you slot the front of the brace so it slides under the front screws and use the thumb screws at the back ? Just a thought

I made some longer battery posts for mine due to the hight of my Orion lipos then continued to use the countersunk washers and screws as normal.

I've put 4 x 3mm washers under the posts.

Not a good idea If have an impact you risk the chance of the brace popping out of the slots and losing the whole strength of the braced gearbox section (not to mention the cells will be loose in the car)
