More steering on a BMAX4 III
Hi All,
Does anyone have any advice for getting more front end bite/turn in on a BMAX4 III? Our car is pretty much stock and goes, stops and jumps brilliantly, but the car is lacking lock/steering for the tight indoors astro tracks we race on. Thanks! |

Tyre wise we run Schumacher yellow cut staggers on the front on cut down Yoko wheels and Schu yellow mini spikes on the rear.
I guess we could run a more agressive front tyre, but I dont want to introduce grip roll. It's mainly in the slow speed turns where it seems to lack lock. |

Or try the 4wd front cut stagger.

Shortening the front camber link will make the car a little more pointy

Try re-drilling the holes for the ball studs on the front hubs and moving them forward into the hub.
Pretty sure there was a video on petit or lmr showing how to do it. |

Shorten wheelbase, stiffer rear springs,no roll bar on front can all help for starters.

If you run box standard (so no front roll bar), go a bit lighter on oil. If you do run a front roll bar, take a thinner one or remove completely.

As Allan said, tyres are your main issue here.
Run new 4wd cut staggers on full sized rim, or 2wd mini spikes on full 4wd rim, with inner and outer spikes removed. These will give you much more steering. I thought 2wd cut staggers were horrible to drive. Have you tried minipins all round on the astro? front is tuned by removing spikes. Also how many shock inserts are you running on the front? Too much front droop (or front lift on power) takes away on power steering. You'd normally be running 5 insert washers on the front. This is more than shown on the kit build.
