You seem to be having trouble getting an answer here.
I didn't know that the TM4 actually had a ball diff option. Is it standard?

I didnt know either.bought it second hand .then another came up.so bought both.1 is plastic and 1 is steel

I might be wrong but I think that the ball diff comes from the T4, not the TM4. But I think it fits without modification.
I turned a bit off the O.D. for a guy who wanted to fit it in his TM2v2 but to be honest I think that the torque requirements of 4wd cars make the geared diff a better option. The ball diff is easier to adjust but there is now enough knowledge sloshing about out there with regards to what oils to go for, so it wouldn't take long to find something that suits.
