Soldering station iron tip won't tin.
Ok. I've got a decent soldering station, and one of the tips won't tin. It will get up to temperature, but the solder just beads off it. What can I try? I've tried flooding it with solder, and cleaning with a couple of different fluxes, and giving it a rub with wire wool, but no joy. All the other tips work fine.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you

I rarely need to do any more than a vigorous rub on a wet piece of kitchen roll which I use instead of the expensive solder sponges. All you are doing is getting the oxidised coating off. You may need to be quick to tin it after rubbing. Check your solder is not lead free as it is horrible to work with, try some nice 80:20 solder.

60 40 will be fine, the percentage refers to the amount of tin vs lead. 60 40 is the std stuff that was sold for years. Modern lead free stuff is a pig to use, the best stuff has a bit of silver like this stuff. It is 62:36 and 2% silver.
